Try this easy to prep, cook, and eat recipe on a road trip. New York Strip with a side of sweet potatoes can be prepared and cooked in as little as 20 minutes – less time than it takes to pull into a busy intersection, search for parking, and find a decent meal. All you need is a cooktop and rest stop (or better yet – a scenic pull-off). Satisfy your taste buds and enjoy the journey along the way!

New York Strip and Sweet Potatoes
Easy steak recipe for a road trip. Prepare in the RV on the stovetop while at the rest stop or scenic pull-off.
Tip: Also easy to prepare on a portable camp stove or Blackstone!
Ingredients
- 2 New York strip steaks (try grass-fed from Aldi)
- 1 package frozen sweet potatoes
- butter
- garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Put frozen sweet potatoes in a pan with a tiny bit of water; cook over medium heat until hot
- Warm iron skillet to medium heat; add a little butter; add steaks; season with garlic powder
- Cook steaks to desired doneness (we did ours to medium – warm pink); salt and pepper to taste
- Mash sweet potatoes; add a little butter, salt, and pepper to taste
- Enjoy!
